The Tortoise and the Hare

What does it take to be a champion runner? To achieve the level of elite status in competition against not only yourself but your peers? I don’t have the foggiest clue, but I do know that in this week’s episode of the Adventures of August Winter the guys find themselves in the midst of a road race!! haha. Will they break records, snag glory for their own, or turn on each other in a dramatic attempt to cross the finish line first???! Check it out and see!!!

Want to welcome all the new readers who have stumbled across the comic from Canada and the US in recent days! Feel free to post and help steer the direction of the comic in the future and again, welcome :) Last week Merrilyn was the first to spot the hidden moose (job well done!) and post about it! As promised she had a special prize (helping to co-author this week’s comic!) and now the finished result is ready for its big reveal. Drum roll if you please, haha. Want to thank her for coming up with a great concept for this week’s entry and for being active and posting. As that really and sincerely keeps fueling the content and is what has made this web comic so much fun! So thank you and I hope I did you proud with your vision for this week’s comic!

And we’ll absolutely be doing more challenges like this again in the future so for all the aspiring co-producers out there, you’ll get your chance!!

Really enjoyed this week’s co-authored entry. Our day-to-day activities/adventures can inspire storytelling at its best. Congratulations to you and Merrilyn! I spotted one of my favorite numbers — “722″.

Haha, good eyes to catch that! I have fun with the details and coming up with numbers for stuff! Was cool to get Merrilyn to come up with the overall ideas/setting for the comic and then let me try and combine them all into a storyline. In film class we would have to do that for our short films, where the teacher would give us an envelope full of seemingly unrelated objects and concepts. From which we’d have to craft them into a film, usually unsuccessfully in a lot of the cases, hahaha. Still its a great idea and I hope to do more of that in the future!

Adventures in the everyday should practically be a tagline for August and Grant. And largely what I think is part of having a rewarding and enjoyable life, by making the seemingly mundane fun! Thanks for posting :)

I know you like to say this is a “co-authored” comic but you took my minimal ideas and turned them into a whole story line, so hats off to you for your creative inspiration and storytelling ability. As Rose said, sometimes it’s the day to day life that can fuel a great story. That poor horse apparently had no idea what he was getting into and neither did I :) .

Rose, I actually did have the number 722 for one of my races :) .

Again congratulations on another excellent comic entry, Thank you for having me come in first, it is the only time that will ever happen :) .

Responses have been really positive to our comic here Merrilyn :) For myself, I find coming up with the ideas to be the most fun part of the process of creation so that is why I wanted to share it! Hope you had fun with it, even though I gave you so little time to come up with something, haha. Let the record show I gave her like 48 hours to come up with something, practically was like a hostage situation! “Give me the idea, now!!” hahaha.

Do feel bad for the horse though :) Not sure I did a great job explaining that joke, might be one of those have to be there kind of situations. Still it was perfect to finish the comic with and not exactly a dream ‘prize’ for all! First place finish, no question about it! I should have given you a medal or something in there, consider it added now via the powers of imagination!

Wonder what everyday adventures will inspire further stories? Hmm! Really pleased that you like how it came out and I can send you the images separately so you have copies if you’d like! Cheers!

You feel bad for the horse??!! Trust me, the horse had the better end of that deal! I did have lots of fun with it, I just wanted to make sure I could give you something to work with- for me the ideas are the hard part. That’s why you do what you do, you can put the whole package together perfectly. Oh, I would like my tank top in xs too please ;) .

Haha, okay! Maybe you are right and that horse was up to mischief! Never can tell with bees, or horses or… spiders? haha. Will look into apparel options this Summer, would want them to be really cool if I was going to have some shirts made. Seems a bit early to do that, but perhaps not! How long do you think it would take to run 500meters? Believe an elite time is around a minute, but I could be mistaken.

Oh I’ve got plenty of ideas, haha. Already working on the next one!
