Into the Unknown

JULY 2021 – Been at it with the writing journal, coming up with more ideas for the new book project! Unclear at this early stage if the focus of the book will change from what it is now, but I think it is going to be a fun, wild ride type story if it continues in the existing gear. Has been helpful to hear the feedback from my most recent book, ‘Defending the Kingdom’, as it helps steer my writing, at least in terms of what resonates with readers. Not that it will change what I write about per say, but it is good in terms of style, as there are areas where I can definitely improve as both a story teller and a writer (technically). Being able to absorb insights into your creative work and come out the other side of it with an improved focus and ability to challenge yourself to get better seems like a real win to me. No matter how humbling it can be to go through that period of constructive criticism, it is quite helpful.

I’m also working on turning my existing library of titles into audiobooks, so look for those to show up on the WaveGarden Arts YouTube channel in the coming months. Plan is to release one chapter each week and go through at least my two first books that way. Still tinkering with the channel as to what it ‘should’ be, having the full audiobooks on there will help bolster the amount of content on there for sure. Not sure if a lot of people listen to audiobooks on YouTube or not, I can also look on posting them on other platforms like iTunes and such if that is something that people would be interested in. For free of course, as I really just want to share the stories with the audience.

Mist over the Ocean

This month I read a book that has been on my to-read list for ages! ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ by Margaret Atwood, an impactful piece of dystopian fiction without question. It is the first of the works by her that I’ve ever read, though I have heard a lot about her writing and it has definitely had an impact on our culture. Is certainly very uncomfortable territory that it dissects and I won’t reveal any intricacies of the plot, and just that I can understand why it has had such a strong impression on its readers. Not exactly feel good writing, but I wasn’t expecting it to be that, has helped me to understand some facets of societal fears, now that I’ve read it. As the story comes from a unique perspective and is quite chilling.

Continue to be bold my friends, hope life is treating you well, and I’ll catch you next time!
