OCTOBER 2025 – Academic calendar cranking at full tilt, autumn hikes highlighting mother nature’s swan song, and hype for Halloween has taken center stage as we close out this month. I continue to find new trails to explore locally (thanks google maps) which has delivered some signature sunsets and fall foliage viewing. Still hoping to hit up some mountain trekking as well this season, but time is running short on that.

Creative pursuits have largely been put on the back burner in favor of a few contract jobs I took related to my 9 to 5. But I’ve been testing out more AI tools and remain amazed by what they are able to create. Genuinely curious how art classes and teachers are training art students in this current era with so much churn in the tools available to creatives. We are definitely at a paradigm shift – not unlike the switch from practical to computer generated effects in movies. Eh, that doesn’t even really cover it as this is so different in the scope.

What are some of the most interesting AI art pieces that you’ve seen thus far? I’ve seen videos, music, writing, game design, and special effects. Super curious what will be achievable in a few more upgrade cycles in the technology in say two years. And as AI tokens come down in cost everyone is going to be able to create anything from a prompt. At least digitally, maybe hand-made art is going to increase in prestige? I rather hope so!

I guess with AI I could add some llamas or where’s Waldo to this photo from a recent hike, but I think it is just fine on its own, haha. Still, I’m excited to see what is possible next! And stay grounded fellow artists, I think there is still need for us.

And when in doubt, go for a walk in the woods.
