Everything the Light Touches

NOVEMBER 2025 – Your world is a lot larger than you think. The amount of lives you impact, the breadth of knowledge you’ve absorbed, the potential you have, it is all so much more than you give yourself credit for. In the modern era we spend all day absorbing information from across the planet in a never-ending stream. I think it is no wonder that it can feel very overwhelming.

Today, I was trying to imagine what the average day must have been like in past eras. Before the internet, before tv/cable, before radio, even before the newspaper, information was still transferred. It was just transferred at a much much slower rate. That must have allowed for considerably more time for new ideas to simmer in our thoughts and be internalized. Culture must have been more connected and familiar. I think that is a big part of why life in the 21st feels so fractured and people disconnected, because we lack that cultural common ground now. And I don’t think humans have evolved enough yet to be able to compartmentalize and handle knowing about a planet’s worth of problems and issues.

Makes me want to turn inward more, but I think you have to resist that urge and make a dedicated effort to build community. As an introvert this can be super challenging and you have to push through that resistance in any little baby steps you can.

Really enjoyed going hiking with two of my friend groups this month, that was so rewarding. They showed me some cool new trails in Connecticut with insane views, it was awesome!

Guess there is no way to put the genie of technology and endless information back in the bottle so we have to balance it out with more time spent on building real-life connections and unplugging from the digital realm and being more present. Try it, you might like what you find!
